In this post we will examine some of the newer enhancements that have been made to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Since QBO is an online product, Intuit engineers don’t need to wait for the next year’s major upgrade to incorporate their work into the software. There is no QBO 2015 and QBO 2016. The improvements are continuous.
Many improvements seem to affect Bank Feeds, a major feature in the online software. So, let’s look at a couple of things Intuit has done to make QBO Bank Feeds even better.
Now, when adding a transaction from the banking transactions list, you can add a customer and make it billable.
Before you choose to Add a transactions, simply click on it. This opens a larger window showing the details. A checkbox to mark the transaction billable to the customer is there as is a field to add the customer’s name.
Another improvement to this process is the ability to add an attachment in this screen. Click the Add Attachment link and navigate to the document you wish to add.
So, the time-saving results of these improvements come from the ability to complete these tasks at the point the transaction is entered. The alternative would be to edit after adding to the register, obviously a much more time-consuming solution.
It is now possible to connect foreign bank accounts to bank feeds. If the account funds are in a different currency, you must be using the multicurrency feature.
There is a quicker way to access registers now. Right from the Home Page.
If you use keyboard key combinations to speed data entry in QBO, there are a couple of new ones. Ctrl-Alt-N will add a new transaction row to a register. Alt-S will Save the register.
One more enhancement when using registers. You can use the search capabilities to find memo entries. Open the Filter window and enter the memo text in the Find box.
